Rules & Regulations

  • Please help maintain a conducive academic library environment.
  • Silence, discipline and order must be maintained at all times in the library.
  • Eatables and cold drinks are not allowed inside the library.
  • Library materials must not be taken out of the library unless a Library staff has issued them.
  • The Library is silence zone; cell phone must be switched off before entering the library. Usage of cell phone, clicking pictures will attract a fine of Rs. 500/- and subsequent stricter action.
  • For visiting or borrowing books from library, members should possess valid Photo-ID card issued by the IILM, Lodhi Road.
  • The library card is non-transferable.  Loss of library cards must be notified to the librarian in writing. Upon approval replacement cards may be issued on payment Rs. 50.
  • Each borrowing member will be issued library tickets as per their entitlement.
  • A book can be reissued up to 2 times provided there is no reservation against it.
  • Library Newspapers, Magazines, Directories, Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, Journals and Expensive collections fall under non-issuable material and cannot be taken out of the library.
  • Books kept in the Reference Section are not available for checkout. However, in exceptional circumstances, with the Librarian’s approval, they may be borrowed overnight. In such cases, a late fee of Rs. 25.00 per book, per day, will be applied if the items are not returned on time.
  • The Library staff may ask any user, who in their opinion, has violated the rules or whose presence is not conducive to the library / study environment, to leave the library premises. Repeated incidence of such behaviour shall attract punitive action.
  • The library is committed to providing inclusive services, offering specialized assistance and accommodations for specially abled members to ensure equitable access to library resources.
  • The Library is equipped with electronic surveillance equipment CCTV cameras.
  • Library surveillance and member information are managed strictly for institutional safety and resource protection. Personal data is confidential and used exclusively for library management purposes.
  • The management has the discretion to modify the library rules and regulations, and these modifications will be binding on all.

Reservations

  • Members may reserve a book which is issued out.
  • The User can reserve a book by visiting library or by e-mailing at librarianlr@iilm.edu
  • Reserved books will be held for 48 hours, after which the reservation will be automatically cancelled.
  • The arrival of reserved materials will be duly notified to the member
  • Each member can reserve two books at a time. All materials on hold must be collected personally.

Lending Rules and Fine

  • All books borrowed from the Library must be returned before or by the due date on the issue-return slip.
  • The borrowing members who repeatedly fail to return documents on due date consecutively on five occasions may loss the privilege of the membership of the library. They will also not be allowed to borrow the books further.
  • Late returning of issued books will attract a charge of Rs. 10/- per day.
  • The documents on loan with the members can be recalled by the Library at any time.
  • Keep the borrowed material in good physical condition as books returned with markings, underlining or any other physical damage will be charged for replacement cost.
  • Non- payment of overdue charges may lead to strict action including but not limited to withholding to exam results, de-listing from placements and cancellation of library membership.
  • Attempting to carry out non-issued library material will also lead to strict action.
  • After completion of the program, students will have to obtain a “No Dues” certificate from the Librarian and surrender their library card.
  • All personal belongings/bags should be kept at the property counter at the entrance. Laptops are permitted provided they do not disturb other users in any way.
  • Rare books shall not be issued by the Library to the borrower. These may be referred in the Library only.
  • Marking on books/journals with pencil or ink, soiling, underlining, writing remarks on pages, folding, tearing of pages, etc. shall tantamount to the damage of the book.
  • Photocopying of rare books and manuscript is not permitted.
  • In case of a book belonging to a set or series is lost or damaged by the borrower, and the new volume is not separately available, the whole set or series shall have to be replaced by the borrower. The damaged set or series may be taken away by the borrower after making the re-placement.
  • Following consultation, books should be left on the tables for the library staff to re-shelve them.

Resources and their Use

  1. General books can be borrowed as per entitlement
  2. Reference documents : Encyclopedia, Dictionary, Directory, Gazetteer are only for consultation within the library
  3. Serials: only for consultation within the library
  4. IILM publications: only for consultation within the library
  5. Non-Print documents: Usually for consultation within the library but overnight issue is allowed at Librarian’s discretion.

Lost or Damaged Books

The borrower is obliged to compensate for lost or damaged items either by substituting the material or paying for it. Please notify the Librarian in writing as soon as you realize that library books are lost. The cost for lost books will be based on the most recent acquisition cost of the books along with Rs.100/- as processing fee or pay the following charges: The current GOC rate will be applicable in case of foreign publisher.

  • The borrower shall be responsible for the loss or damage to the books issued to him /her.
  • Before leaving the Library counter, the borrower should immediately point out any damage or mutilations in the book to the Library Assistant on duty, otherwise the borrower shall be held responsible for replacement of the book or liable to pay the charges.

Faculty: If the payment for the lost book is not done as demanded, the competent authority of IILM-LR will recover the amount from the salary.

Alumni and special members:  The amount due for the lost book will be intimated in writing and in case the same is not paid then, it will be recovered from the security deposit made by the user and the membership will also be forfeited.
